A very interesting barrage of opinions today on my radio show ("T-Row in the Morning Show...SportsTalk 1400AM...6-9:30am Monday-Friday) on the National Anthem at OU home games and the way Sooner fans have decided to end it. Many offended. Many not offended.

I guess my opinion has landed with this. While I realize it is impossible to make everyone happy all the time, the Golden Rule is a pretty good rock to center all debates like this around..."Do Unto Others..."

Honestly, hearing 85,000 people (or what sounds like most of them) say the word "Sooners" in unison is pretty cool. But if it is happening at the expense of offending those who have put their lives on the line for our freedom, it's not worth it.

The National Anthem is sacred ground. I get that. I respect that. And I certainly have nothing but the upmost respect for those who decided our country is worth dying for. They are ALL brave. They are NOT all Sooners. The rest of the night can be about the Crimson and Cream. Let the National Anthem be about the Crimson that was shed on the battlefield for America.
