It looks like CONFERENCE ARMAGEDDON has arrived. All signs point toward Nebraska bolting for the Big 10 on Friday which means the dominoes are set to fall. It appears that OU and OSU will be Pac-16 boundpossibly by week’s end.
Just how fast all this could happen is unknown. It would seem unlikely to take place before the 2012 football season at earliest. But the details will be taken care of. Bottom line isthe Big 12 is dead.
Don’t despair Sooner and Cowboy fans. I think this will prove to be a great day in the history of OU and OSU athletics. Go West Young Man! The Pac-16 (or Lake Overholser 16or whatever the name is going to be) opens a world of possibilities in revenue and recruiting. Not to mention some fascinating new potential rivalries with the likes of USC, Oregon, Stanford, Arizona, UCLA, etc
The entire world of college sports could be remolded in the next couple of months. Here’s my best guess as to where everybody will land when the mushroom cloud of conference Armageddon settles.
Pac-16: OU, OSU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona St., USC, UCLA, California, Stanford, Oregon, Oregon St., Washington, Washington St.
Big-16: Nebraska, Missouri, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Pitt, Penn St., Ohio St., Michigan, Michigan St., Northwestern, Indiana, Purdue, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois.
SEC: Kansas, Miami, Florida St., Clemson, LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Mississippi St., Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky.
ACC/Big East: North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, NC State, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Maryland, Cincinnati, Louisville, West Virginia, Connecticut, South Florida, Syracuse, Memphis.
Mountain West: Kansas St., Iowa St., Baylor, Boise St., Fresno St., TCU, BYU, Utah, New Mexico, UNLV, Air Force, Wyoming, San Diego St., Colorado St., Houston, SMU.
