Fitting that the Sooners College World Series opening game win was a late-night highwire act. Nearly nine-and-a-half hours after it was scheduled to begin, Ryan Duke induced a fly ball to centerfield that gave OU a Game One win and sent Sooner fans in Omaha home happy and soggy. And Sunnys boys once again just found a way to win.
Sacrificing runners to second. Key two-out hits. A late-inning Buechele blast. Solid pitching. Stellar defense. Its a formula theyve milked all season.
Buechele and Seitzer will get the headlines this week at Rosenblatt because of their last names. But the thing that makes the Sooners scary is that you never know where its coming from. Cody Reine had the remarkable Super-Regional. Caleb Bushyhead delivered in Game One in Omaha. Tyler Ogle was clutch in Lawrence. Eric Ross got the game-winner against North Carolina. ..and on and on and on.
50 wins now, and a world of confidence. OU may not win their third National Championship over the next week or so in Omaha. But in the words of Lloyd Christmas...Im saying theyve got a chance.
