Surely by now I dont need to tell you much about the Sooners. The positive to the Sam Bradford injury is that OU has an experienced, talented quarterback returning that should be at the helm of a big-time offensive attack in 2010. With Ryan Broyles and Demarco Murray and Brennan Clay and Kenny Stills and Dejuan Miller and Trey Millard and Cameron Kenney and friends, Landry Jones is stocked with weapons.

Brent Venables lost Gerald McCoy and both starting cornerbacks, but Brent Venables is convinced this defense will be just as good or better than a year ago. The linebackers should be outstanding. And the safety tandem of Quinton Carter and Jonathan Nelson are fast and hit hard. The biggest question is whether they have defensive tackles that can stuff the run.

OUs kicking game is very much up in the air. Patrick OHara will get the first whack at placekicking duties. But punt returner Ryan Broyles is one of the most electric in the nation.

I wont make a pick on which games OU will win or lose since Im a part of the game broadcasts, but I do think the Sooners are a legitimate contender for the national title if they can avoid the injury plague of 2009.
