I love the Hokies this year and heres why...Frank Beamer has an offense. We know Beamer will always have a defense and always have the best special teams in the country. Add to that formula a formidable offense and you have a national title contender.

Tyrod Taylor is back for his third year at starting quarterback. Running back Ryan Williams broke the school rushing record last season. And the Hokies top three receivers, Jarrett Boykin, Dyrell Roberts and Danny Coale, also return in 2010. Va-Tech closed out last season scoring 36, 38, 42 and 37 points, the final total coming in a dominant Chick-fil-A Bowl win over Tennesee.

Defensively, the Hokies will break in a host of new starters. Thats a concern right off the bat against a high-powered Boise State offense in Week One. Senior cornerback Rashad Carmichael had six interceptions a year ago and will anchor the back end for Defensive Coordinator Bud Foster. I dont have any doubt, however, that the Hokies "D" will be good. They have finished in the top 12 in the nation each of the last six years in total and scoring defense.

I think Virginia Tech will start the season with a bang by upsetting Boise State at FedEx Field and roll from there. Back-to-back road games late in the season at North Carolina and at Miami could be stumbling blocks....but I dont think so.

Prediction: 12-0
