Monday Morning boys and girls texting in some pensive thoughts. They called in sick due to exhaustion of wondering what stories were true and if their head coach could possibly diss them and head to Gainesville. Here we are with some random texts:
Still don’t see how Will Muschamp could hire Major Applewhite if Mack Brown wasn’t okay with it. And don’t see how Applewhite could take the job unless Mack was okay with it. If I were Major, I’d do what gave me the best chance of being the next UT coach.
It’s easier for a coach to deny being contacted about a job than for him to call his dog.
Annual coaching controversies are tougher on relationships than infidelity.
Frankly, seeing Texas and Florida plummet for no justifiable reasons, it points to extraordinary sustained success of Stoops. The two down yearsfive loss seasons in 1999 and 2009 were a decade apart and were a result of legit reasoning. The 1999 record was actually a home run after taking over for Boo Blake who’d won 3, 4, and 5 games in his three seasons. And of course the 2009 team lost Bradford, Gresham and tons of others to injury. Sustained success is the sign of a special coach.
Jay Norvell may be qualified to become new head coach at Pitt but how can they justify hiring a position coach? His resume’ is deeper than that but can an A.D. sell it to his fan base?
Here’s betting Mack does what Mack does best. Sell Texas football. Don’t see high-profile recruits de-committing.
OU cynic sees where Stoops makes 55K bonus for finishing in the Top 20. She tells me he should owe more than that if OU DOESN’T always finish in the Top 20. Spoiled?
She also noticed where if OU finishes in the Top 10, Stoops will have made 280K bonus money and points out he doesn’t make a dime more for WINNING the Fiesta Bowl. So now there’s the reason for OU’s bowl struggles, right?
Thanks for checking in. Our crew will reconvene next week. Unless the Florida job opens between now and then.
