EDMOND, Oklahoma -- The University of Central Oklahoma is stepping up to help tornado victims across the state. Right now, UCO's Forensic Science Institute is offering free assistance to those who are trying to recover lost pictures or documents from their computers.

The students and faculty said they can do it using the same high-tech equipment designed to solve crimes.

"We'll use the same tools that a digital forensic examiner would use to look for evidence on computers and hard drives that may be submitted in a criminal investigation," said Mark McCoy, UCO forensic science professor.

Those interested in the service should call the institute at 405-974-6911. The staff at the institute will start calling people back in a few weeks to help callers recover pictures and data.
