WAYNE, Oklahoma -- After Wayne Police Chief Ron Reagan was charged with embezzlement and resigned, the police department shut down, leaving Wayne with no law enforcement.

The town and the McClain County Sheriff worked out an arrangement to provide a deputy to patrol the streets.

Deputy Chad Hillis has now been patrolling Wayne for the past three weeks. He patrols five days a week, eight hours a day.

He says he likes patrolling the town where he attended high school.

"This is a town where everything's closer together," says Deputy Chad Hillis. "People tend to see more than they would living out in the rural areas of the county."

Wayne is talking about reestablishing a police department, but until that happens Chad Hillis will keep on patrolling.
