MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- A second suspect in the drive-by shooting that killed a Midwest City teen has turned himself into police.

According to Midwest City Police, Darrin Burton showed up at the police department just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Burton and 17-year-old Davian Blair face charges in the death of 17-year-old Khaelin Irving. Irving died from a gunshot wound after a drive-by shooting Tuesday night in Midwest City.

According to police, Irving was in a car with three other passengers when a gold Sebring started following them from the area of N.E. 23rd Street and Douglas Boulevard. According to witnesses in the car with Irving, the passengers in the Sebring started flashing gang signs and tried to start a fight.

When the car Irving was in turned north onto Shadywood Drive from N.E. 10th Street, the front seat passenger in the Sebring fired a shot and it struck Irving in the head. Irving was then taken to Midwest Regional Hospital and later transferred to OU Medical Center. Irving was pronounced dead around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators identified the driver of the Sebring as Blair. Blair was taken into custody without incident at his house in Midwest City. The suspect vehicle was found inside the garage of Blair's home and seized. Blair is being charged as an adult with three counts of Discharging a Firearm from a Motor Vehicle and one count of Murder I.

Investigators also identified the person who shot Irving as Burton of Midwest City. Burton faces similar charges.

"The motive is unclear as to why Burton shot Irving or if he was the intended target—the bottom line is you have one child dead and two young suspects facing the possibility of spending the rest of their lives in prison if convicted," Chief Brandon Clabes said. "It really makes no sense and difficult to understand why people settle disputes with violence," Chief Clabes added.
