OKLAHOMA CITY -- The RedHawks' losing streak extended to four games Sunday, after being blanked by the New Orleans Zephyrs 7-0.
After starter Victor Garate pitched four one-hit innings for the Zephyrs, Todd Doolittle (3-1) pitched the game's final five innings, giving up just three hits while striking out four. Nelson Figueroa (4-3) received a loss for the outing, giving up three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings of service.
New Orleans (36-35) scored its first run in the top of the second thanks to an RBI triple from Joe Thurston to bring Matt Dominguez home. Chris Aguila singled in the next at-bat to bring Thurston home to take a 2-0 advantage.
In the top of the sixth, Matt Dominguez grounded out to shortstop to allow Osvaldo Martinez to score and make it a three-run lead for the Zephyrs.
A solo home run from Joe Thurston expanded the lead to four runs in the top of the ninth, while two batters later, Mike Cervenak reached on an error allowing Aguila to score and make it 5-0 in favor of the Zephyrs.
Two outs later, Josh Kroeger knocked a ground ball single to right field to bring Cervenak and Gregg Glime home to make it a seven-run lead for New Orleans.
The Oklahoma City RedHawks will conclude their nine-game home stand at 7:05 p.m. against the Zephyrs at Bricktown Ballpark.
