Prosecutors Charge OKC Woman Accused Of Running Over, Killing Niece

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma County prosecutors have file charges against a woman accused of running over a toddler during a family garage sale.

Police say on June 16, Vivre Lizeth Vargas went to move her pickup truck in the 1600 block of S.W. 32nd Street, and didn't realize her 22-month-old niece Yailine Vargas was behind the truck. According to the police report, Vargas accidentally put her truck in reverse and backed over the little girl.

Prosecutors say although Vargas did not intentionally run over the child, she knowingly operated a vehicle without a driver's license. She's charged with causing a deadly accident while driving without a valid driver's license, which is a felony.
