NORMAN, Oklahoma – Team Oklahoma suffered its first loss of the Heartland Baseball Classic in its first game Wednesday, but bounced back with a resounding win in Game 2.
Oklahoma lost to Georgia 4-2 in one of the day's lowest-scoring games, but crushed Arizona 13-5 later in the day. The two-game split came after Team Oklahoma swept the first two games of play Tuesday with two other blowouts, 12-4 over Maryland and 13-4 over Ohio.
The Heartland Baseball Classic – previously known as the Sunbelt Senior Classic – features all-star high school athletes from seven states as well as Canada. The event will continue through Friday, the only day in which Oklahoma will not play two games.
Team Oklahoma will continue play at noon Thursday against Arkansas at Norman High School before facing Team Canada at 3 p.m. at Southmoore High School.
