OKLAHOMA CITY -- Deputies with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office will be looking for drivers who down too many beers while watching fireworks during the holiday weekend.
Deputies will be out at sobriety checkpoints over the July 4th weekend. There will be a zero tolerance policy for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
The sheriff's office has not released the locations of the sobriety checkpoints.
Up to 40 percent of all fatal crashes involve alcohol over the holiday. For people who drink too much during Independence Day celebrations, they can call AAA's popular Tipsy Tow service for a ride home. Tipsy Tow runs from 6 p.m. July 1 until 6 a.m. July 5 in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Enid, Lawton, Muskogee, Shawnee and Bartlesville.
"If you feel unsafe behind the wheel after drinking at a holiday party or get-together, AAA Oklahoma will come get you and your vehicle and we'll give both a free, safe ride home," Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma, said.
