CASHION, Oklahoma -- An overflow crowd Tuesday night in Cashion as the town board of trustees met for the first time since essentially firing most of the fire department.
Most residents were hoping to get some answers as to why the council made the move.
Nearly 100 people showed up at the meeting. About half were told they would have to leave because of fire code concerns.
The former fire chief Chantz Robinson was allowed to address the council. He informed them he was considering legal action.
Thursday, Robinson and most of the other members of the department were told to clean out their lockers.
The mayor said Tuesday the new fire department continues to respond to calls and the cities ISO rating which determines insurance rates will remain the same.
But neighboring fire departments say they are now automatically called when there is a fire in Cashion.
"They just need the help," said Big 4 Fire Chief Darryl Forrow. "They don't have the people to put out fires,"
And this community is still left wondering why?
