Talihina Mother And Daughter Drown In Lower Mountain Fork River

MCCURTAIN COUNTY, Oklahoma – A drowning occurred on the Lower Mountain Fork River in McCurtain County Friday Afternoon.

According to the accident report, the victims were 12-year-old Majesty Gable and her mother, 33-year-old Shekinah Gable.

Both of the victims were swimming off the west shore line near the dam. When the girl was swept over the dam by the current, her mother tried to save her but was also swept into the current.

Their bodies were located in approximately four feet of water.

According to the report, the girl was wearing personal flotation device, but the mother was not.
