EMSA Lifts Oklahoma City Heat Alert

OKLAHOMA CITY -- With Sunday's sub-100-degree temperatures, EMSA officials have lifted Oklahoma City's longest heat alert in the past eight years.

As of 6 p.m. Sunday, EMSA dispatchers had received no heat related calls for the day.

Since June 17th, EMSA paramedics have responded to 313 heat-related calls.  Paramedics transported 227 patients to local hospitals.  Forty-seven were transported in serious or critical condition and 180 were transported in good condition.

A heat alert is declared when EMSA receives five or more calls for heat-related assistance in a 24-hour period.

This summer's 58-day-long heat alert is the longest duration for EMSA in the last 8 years.
