KINGFISHER, Oklahoma -- Monday night's storm knocked out power to the entire city of Kingfisher. Kingfisher Electric crews were able to restore most of the power before sunrise on Tuesday.

"But if a line is down or broke in between then we can't get power to those folks," says Jack Stuteville, major of Kingfisher.

OG&E crews reset power lines and poles along the main highway that runs through town. But Kingfisher Regional Hospital and two nursing homes went without power for most of the day.

"This is a fragile population," says Pam Fuxa with the First Shamrock Care Center.

Staff at First Shamrock Care Center had to open all the windows and doors to let air circulate for the 36 elderly residents.

"The doctor has been here and seen a majority of our patients and assured us they are all doing well," Fuxa says.

The roar of a generator kept a roadside food truck, appropriately named Stormy's, open after the storm.

"I have family in kingfisher and I called they said they were still without power," says Travis Mitchell, Employee of the Stormy's. "I said hey let's get on into kingfisher early because a lot of town is without power."

He knew they would be busy, while nearly 700 businesses and homes waited for electricity.

The city promised to bring the nursing home generators, but staff there say the generators never came, instead their family members brought generators so they could turn on fans for residents.
