BETHANY, Oklahoma – The Children's Center hosted the 15th annual "Spin Your Wheels" bicycle tour in Bethany on Saturday, and some of News 9's own joined the tour for a good cause.
Organizers say all proceeds from this event will be used to purchase medical and therapy equipment for the 120 patients at the hospital.
"Year-round preparations and support from our volunteers and staff made today's bicycle tour the best yet," said Amy Coldren, special events coordinator. "We can always count on the cycling community to come out and support the patients here at The Children's Center, the pleasant temperatures were an added bonus."
News 9's Susie Zin, Mark Turner and Adrianna Iwasinski volunteered to take part in this bicycle tour to help raise funds for the hospital.
Riders from five states: Kansas, Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Florida rode a variety of distances along the historic Route 66 highway to raise money for children with complex medical and physical disabilities at the center.
"It was incredible to look at the sea of cyclists early this morning, and see the familiar faces who continue to ride for the children," said Albert Gray, chief executive officer. "We are very grateful for their loyalty to The Children's Center."
Gray said proceeds from the event will be used for immediate needs of the 120 patients at the hospital.
