NORMAN, Oklahoma – Former All-American and five-time Pro Bowl safety Roy Williams has joined the Sooner Radio Network as an analyst for OU football games.
Williams will host the network's pregame show and work on the sidelines during home games and selected road games as an analyst.
He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys after his junior season at OU in 2001 and played for the Cowboys through 2009.
Williams played for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010, and said he is not retired from the NFL, but is happy with his current state.
"My body is telling me that I am making the right moves, but if the right offer came along I guess I'd have to think about (playing again)," he said. "I've got a new daughter and 10 years from now, I want to be able to get out of bed in the morning and play with her. Right now, I can do that. I wake up every morning smiling."
Williams said he wants to be the players' voice when providing analysis on the radio.
"Sometimes, fans may not understand a coverage or a subtle mistake that was made and I think I can offer that insight," he said. "This is a great opportunity to come back and be involved. It's going to be fun."
