PAYNE COUNTY, Oklahoma – A two-car collision in Payne County claimed the life of a woman from Cleveland, Oklahoma Friday morning, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
This happened at about 10 a.m. on State Highway 33, about two miles east of Perkins. According to Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Chandra Kaye Jones was pronounced dead at the scene from severe injuries suffered in the wreck. She was transported to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing.
According to the accident report, A 2004 Ford Taurus driven by Jones was westbound on State Highway 33, when it went left of center and struck the left rear trail duals of a 1999 Peterbilt dump truck, driven by 63-year-old John Keith Casey from Oilton, Oklahoma.
Jones was pinned in the car for about three hours before being freed by Perkins Fire Department, troopers said.
Casey was taken to Cushing Regional Hospital in good condition with head and arm injuries.
According to the report, a 2-year-old boy was in Jones's car at the time of the accident. He was transported to the hospital in good condition.
Troopers said all three were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
