LOVE COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A one-car collision in Love County has claimed the life of a Sulphur, Oklahoma man early Saturday morning, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

This happened at 1:25 a.m. on Merle Wolfe Road, two miles south of Thackerville in Love County. According to the accident report, 51-year-old John Martin Sousa was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries suffered in the wreck. He was transported by Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home to their facility in Marietta, Oklahoma.

According to the report, a 2008 Chevrolet driven by Sousa was northbound on Merle Wolfe Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign at a "T" intersection of Rogers Road. The car then went off the roadway into a ravine, and overturned one and half times.

Troopers say Sousa was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. They have determined the cause of the collision to be failure to stop for stop sign.
