OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man they say led authorities on a chase through northwest and southwest Oklahoma City while throwing plastic baggies out of his window.

A deputy noticed a vehicle swerving near Interstate 44 and N.W. 23rd Street around 2 a.m. on Monday, September 19. The deputy attempted to stop the driver, but the man behind the wheel refused to pull over. The deputy began chasing the driver and noticed he threw some plastic bags out of the window near S.W. 15th Street.

The pursuit ended near I-44 and S.W. 15th Street at an apartment complex. Deputies arrested the driver, 34-year-old Curtis Lee Branch. Deputies say Branch's breath smelled of alcohol, and there was an open container of alcohol in his car. Branch was also driving with a suspended license.

When deputies searched Branch's car, they found a green, leafy substance. Authorities also recovered the plastic bags Branch threw from the vehicle and they also contained a green, leafy substance.

Branch was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on complaints of DUI, eluding a police officer, driving under suspension, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and transporting an open container.

Branch is currently being held on $13,000.00 bond.
