LUTHER, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in an attempted kidnapping case in Luther.

Investigators arrested 61-year-old Larry Lynn Edwards Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. in Luther. Edwards faces charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault and battery.

The pending charges stem from an attempted kidnapping that occurred September 13 at Cox Field Park in Luther. According to investigators, two girls, ages 7 and 9, were in the park when a man pulled up on a motorcycle and tried to abduct them. The girls were able to fight the man off, suffering minor scrapes and bruises from the attack.

Witnesses identified Edwards from a composite sketch. Deputies went to Edwards home with an arrest warrant on Tuesday. Edwards was not home, but deputies did speak to his girlfriend, Reba Henderson. Henderson was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia after deputies found marijuana inside the home.

Edwards was found a short time later on his motorcycle at the intersection of N. Indian Meridian and E. Covell Road.

Edwards was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on complaints of kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
