OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Army National Guard is warning families of military personnel about a hoax involving fake death notifications.

Military officials say the wife of a Navy serviceman was approached this week by two people wearing camouflage uniforms, and claiming to be Army Casualty Notification Officers.

They told her that her husband had been killed and asked her to sign paperwork. Luckily she refused.

The military says death notifications are made by a member of the same branch of service as the service member, and that officers will be in a dress uniform.

The military isn't sure if other families have been approached.
