'Salute The Troops' Event To Be Held At Del City Church

DEL CITY, Oklahoma – A "Salute the Troops" event will be held at a church in Del City to honor Oklahoma's military and National Guard.

This event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, at the First Southern Baptist church, located at 6400 South Sooner Road.

According to Pam Pollard, organizer of the event, this service will focus on the heroism of Oklahoma's Military and our support of their families.

"It is impossible to overstate the debt that we owe to our military men and women, whose bravery, sacrifice and service allows us to remain a free nation," said Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin. "The 'Salute the Troops' service is a great way of showing our soldiers that we are holding them and their families in our thoughts and prayers."

People who are interested in this event are asked to bring a donation for a service member that can be shipped overseas or a family member here at home.

This event open to the public. A special Memorial Candle Lighting Service will also be held.
