LANGSTON, Oklahoma – News 9 went to Langston University to find some good 8-man football action on Friday night and Deer Creek-Lamont didn't disappoint.
The defending Class C state champions put on a show as they took on the Coyle Bluejackets and came away with a 46-0 win.
The Eagles started things off quickly as Connor Kirby busted out a big run and followed it up with a goal-line plunge to put DC-Lamont up 6-0.
Kirby got the job done on both sides of the ball, picking off a Coyle pass as the Bluejackets were driving.
Deer-Creek Lamont quarterback Lawton Thompson showed off some wheels of his own, picking up several big gains.
A long run from Thompson late in the second quarter set up another touchdown run for Kirby, and he put the finishes touches on a Deer Creek-Lamont victory that ended at halftime.
In our second game of the night, the roundup headed out to Guthrie where the Bluejays were hosting the Ada Cougars.
Guthrie was undefeated on the season and kept the momentum going with a 56-14 win.
The Bluejays got up early and led by a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter as Guthrie quarterback Bryan Dutton connected on a long touchdown with Luke Davis to go up 35-14.
Guthrie would shut out the Cougars in the second half to keep their perfect record intact (5-0).
The Bluejays will head to Noble next week while the Cougars (2-3) will host Western Heights.
