UPDATE:  The sex charge filed against metro church leader Floyd Chambers has been dropped by the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office.

OKLHAOMA CITY – The mother of a nine-year-old girl who police say was molested by a church deacon speaks out.

News 9 first broke the story of allegations leveled an elder at the Cherokee Hills Church of Christ Tuesday night. A service was held at the church late Wednesday. Members of the tight-knit church say they are standing by Floyd Chambers, also known as Beef. The support for Chambers comes as the victim's mother speaks out.

Chambers has been charged with touching a 9-year-old girl's genitalia while the girl was being watched by Chambers in July of 2011. Neighbors and friends continue to stand by Chambers.

Chambers is out on bond but continues to volunteer at the church. Since the news broke, support for Chambers poured in from those who know him well. Many shared views at News9.com, including those who say they don't buy the victim's story.

"To hear this stuff this stuff … it broke my heart, it really did," said the victim's mother who asked News 9 to conceal her identity. "People can make all the allegations they want. I believe my little girl."

The girl's mother said when her daughter told family member's she had been molested, it was hard to believe. The girl's mother says Chambers was like a father to her and a grandfather to her daughters.

"He would take us out to eat," explained the mother.

The mother also added Chambers would give the children money for Christmas.

The girl's mother says shortly after the DA's office filed charges against Chambers, the Cherokee Hills Church of Christ disowned her and her family.

Chambers says he is innocent of the charge. His attorney says he will plead not guilty.

The mother of the victim says her daughter is doing OK.

Both parties say they are looking forward to the truth coming out in court.

The mother says her family first met Chambers when he came to her house asking them to join his church.
