NEW HAVEN, Connecticut – Oklahoma defensive end Frank Alexander was integral part of the Sooners 55-17 dismantling of the Texas Longhorns Saturday and his efforts have been rewarded as he has been named the Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week.
The senior from Baton Rouge had six tackles, three quarterback sacks, one pass break up and a forced fumble he recovered during the win. The Sooner defense also held the Longhorns to just 259 yards of total offense.
Alexander thanked everyone for the honor Sunday saying ""Thank everyone for the votes.. I really appreciate it!!" via his Twitter account.

Last year Alexander started nine games at defensive end for OU and finished second on the team with 13 tackles for loss and seven sacks.
Alexander joins Oregon's LaMichael James who was named the Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week after he rushed for 239 yards and one touchdown as the Ducks beat California 43-15.
