Brothers Struck By Car In Moore Remain In Hospital For Treatment

OKLAHOMA CITY – Two young brothers who were hit by a car outside of a Moore elementary school are still in the hospital receiving treatment for their injuries.

The accident happened in front of Fairview Elementary School on October 4. According to Moore police, a 6-year-old and a 7-year-old were crossing the street to school when they were hit.

According to Stephen Guidry, the boys' uncle, both boys suffered severe head trauma, broken bones, and extensive cuts and bruising from the accident. The 7-year-old also suffered severe internal damage to his liver, spleen, and lungs. And the 8-year-old will require an extended period of rehabilitation to recover from his head trauma.

Guidry said both boys remained in the ICU for five days before they were stable enough to be moved to a room at the Children's Hospital.

The boys began their first step to a long-term rehabilitation at a local facility on Thursday, October 13. Guidry said doctors are optimistic for the brothers' full recoveries with time.
