OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Sooners struggled on both sides of the ball Saturday against Texas Tech, and their ratings reflected it in Dean Blevins' weekly report card.
Both sides of the ball got off to dismal starts, with the defense having consistent trouble tackling and the offense failing to get into a rhythm. Receivers repeatedly dropped passes, and the Sooners could not register a first down in the entire second quarter.
Texas Tech's lead grew to as much as 24 points early in the second half before the Sooners mounted a late comeback. But it fell short because of failings in the kicking game, with Michael Hunnicutt hitting a short field goal off the right upright late in the fourth quarter.
OU received grades of D or worse in every category, resulting in an overall rating of D-. The loss dropped to Sooners to No. 9 in the latest BCS rankings, and they will have to recover against No. 8 Kansas State next Saturday.
