NORMAN, Oklahoma -- University of Oklahoma tight end, and former Southmoore Sabercat, Austin Haywood plans to transfer from No. 11 Oklahoma at the end of the semester.
Sooner head coach Bob Stoops announced Haywood's decision after practice Monday saying Haywood was going to "quit" and that "we're all good with that and wish him the best."
The sophomore from Moore, Okla., served as the backup for starter James Hanna and Haywood tallied six passes for 42 yards through seven games this season.
Co-offensive coordinator Jay Norvell says Haywood "did some good things as a physical blocker but we've got to move forward with the guys that really want to be a part of what we're doing."
Haywood is the team's third offensive player to decide to transfer since the season started.
Out of high school, Haywood was a four-star recruit and was ranked No. 48 in the 2010 ESPNU 150.
