OKLAHOMA CITY – Forget Shrek and Donkey. Puss In Boots is ready to go solo and carry his own movie.

Antonio Banderas is back as the suave feline with a reputation as a notorious fighter and legendary lover. This movie is all about Puss, how he got his boots, and what his life was like before he met up with the obnoxious ogre and talkative donkey.

Salma Hayek voices his love interest, Kitty Softpaws. She's a pretty kitty with a hidden agenda, but Puss can't resist her moves. And Zach Galifianakis plays Humpty Alexander Dumpty, Puss' blood brother. Unfortunately, the two once-close friends have a complicated history. And some of Humpty's actions leave viewers wondering if he's a good egg or a bad egg.

I don't think this movie is as good as the first Shrek, but it is definitely entertaining and fun. It's full of animated action and kid-friendly dialogue that children will love, but it also has those sly innuendos that tickle adults. My favorite line was Puss' explanation for his hidden stash of catnip – "It's for my glaucoma!"

The kids will love it, and the adults will enjoy it, too. Take the whole family and spend some quality time together at the movies.

I give Puss In Boots 3.5 out of 5 stars. The movie is rated PG.
