OKLAHOMA CITY -- Three teenage suspects are in a juvenile detention facility after police say they stole a car early Monday morning from a couple's driveway in southwest Oklahoma City.
Around 3:30 a.m., a couple in the 3700 block of N.W. 11th Street heard their car start. The husband knew something was wrong because he had the keys to the car in his pocket. When they looked outside, their car was gone.
The car owner immediately called police. As an officer responded to the call, he spotted the stolen car. He tried to pull over the driver, but the driver refused to stop.
Police chased the car for about two miles until the driver lost control, went off the road and crashed. Police say that's when the three teens inside the car jumped out and tried to run. Police arrested them after a short foot chase.
All three teens were arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center.
The car's owner arrived at the scene to assess the damage. He says he won't be able to drive the car until it's repaired. He says the vehicle was his only source of transportation and he doesn't know how he's going to get to and from work.
