NORMAN, Oklahoma – The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office receives a new grant to help reduce drunk and impaired drivers in Cleveland County.

The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office issued the grant, which will provide more funding than it did last year to the county.

Sheriff Joe Lester is thankful for the grant and said it's needed to help Cleveland County Sheriff deputies take drunk drivers off the roads.

"Most people know someone who has been the victim of a drunk driver," Lester said. "Close friends of mine have been killed by drunk drivers. I will do everything in my power as sheriff to stop the needless loss of life due to drunk drivers."

Last year's grant resulted in six checkpoints and directed patrols specifically looking for drunk and impaired drivers
