NORMAN, Oklahoma – People dropped off more than 1,000 pounds of medications during a prescription drug round-up in Cleveland County.
Every quarter, the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) holds events encouraging people to discard their expired or unused prescription medications. They usually collect about 500 pounds of medicine.
On Saturday, October 29, CCSO collected more than 1,000 pounds of medications at four different sites. The prescriptions were then taken to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to be destroyed.
"The results from this past weekend show the Prescription Drug Round-Up works," said Cleveland County Sheriff Joe Lester said. "I want to extend a special thank you to the citizen volunteers who showed up to assist us in the round-up."
