McAlester Woman Killed In Crash Near Eufaula

A 54-year-old woman died Tuesday morning after a car accident on U.S. 270 at Mitchell Road in Pittsburg County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Ellen Louise Campbell failed to yield at a stop sign. As she drove across the intersection, her 2010 Honda was struck by a 1997 GMC Yukon driving westbound.

Campbell was pinned in her car for 20 minutes before McAlester firefighters were able to extricate her. She was rushed to Epic Medical Center in Eufaula, where she died from head and internal injuries.

The 29-year-old driver of the Yukon was not seriously hurt.
