Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione has been named to the NCAA Men's Basketball Committee, replacing former Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe, the NCAA Announced Wednesday.
"It is an honor to serve with this prestigious committee; a committee that has provided outstanding leadership through the years," Castiglione said in a press release.
"The NCAA basketball tournament has emerged as one of this country's greatest sporting events. I recognize and embrace the high expectations that come with this role and look forward to working with my colleagues in presenting the best of college basketball."
Castiglione already serves as the chair of the NCAA's Academic Progress Rate (APR) Working Group, and has served on the Championship Competition Cabinet, the Division I Baseball committee, the Diversity Leadership Strategic Planning Committee and the Division I Women's Basketball Discussion Group.
Castiglione will finish Beebe's term on the board, which runs through the 2012-2013 season.
