A former McLoud elementary teacher is accused of taking provocative pictures of her students, and reportedly had them skyping with a strange man online.

The FBI is still examining the computers and cell phones used by former McLoud teacher Kimberly Crain. Police arrested Crain last Thursday at her home in Shawnee on charges of manufacturing and possessing child porn as well as lewd acts with a child.

In a statement released on Monday, the superintendent stated the principal had no knowledge Crain was using a webcam in class.

Now the FBI is trying to track down the man the class was skyping with. Crain is being held on $1 million bond.

Crain is set to make her first court appearance this Friday. She had been scheduled to see the judge last week but that date was delayed.

Complete statement from McLoud Superintendent, Doran Smith:

1. Prior to the event at the former teacher's home with the five students, the Principal had never received information from a patron, child, or employee regarding inappropriate conduct by Ms. Crain, either on- or off-campus.

2. The Principal had not observed any conduct by Ms. Crain that would have indicated she was involved in any manner with the conduct for which she has been charged.

3. Educational authorities and experts encourage teachers to incorporate computers and modern technology in their lessons, and McLoud teachers do use computers. Thus, it is normal for teachers to use computer technology continually in the classroom, and a teacher's use of a computer would not raise a red flag of inappropriate usage of a classroom computer. Students, as well as employees, know District computers are to be solely used for District purposes.

4. The Principal had no knowledge Ms. Crain was using the computer for non-instructional or non-District purposes. One can assume that if a teacher is going to use technology in the classroom for an inappropriate purpose that the teacher would do that covertly so that it would not be detected by anyone entering the classroom. Ms. Crain obviously did that.

5. The Principal had no knowledge Ms. Crain was using a webcam in the classroom. No parent, student, or employee had reported such usage. Lesson plans did not call for such usage and Ms. Crain never asked the administration to incorporate usage of a webcam into the classroom.
