NORMAN, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma men's basketball team moved to 6-1 and snapped Oral Roberts' six-game winning streak with a 73-59 victory Thursday.
The teams stayed close to start the game, and ORU held a 12-11 after four minutes. But the Sooners went on a small scoring spurt to take the lead, and they never gave it back.
The Sooners went on very few extended scoring runs, but pulled away slowly throughout the night. They led by as much as 15 points in the second half, and after that the Golden Eagles never got closer than nine points.
Three different Sooners scored in double digits, led by Steven Pledger with 17 points. Andrew Fitzgerald and Cameron Clark scored 16 points each, and Clark added a team-high seven rebounds.
ORU had a difficult night on offense, especially from beyond the arc. As a team, the Golden Eagles shot just 37 percent from the field and 1-of-14 from 3-point range. Dominique Morrison led all scorers with 20 points, and Damen Bell-Holter added 16 points off the bench.
The Sooners now have recovered from a 20-point loss to Saint Louis with back-to-back wins. They now will take on Arkansas in their next game at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Oral Roberts lost its first game since Nov. 15, ending a streak of six straight wins. The Golden Eagles will remain on the road to play Arkansas-Little Rock in their next game at 7 p.m. Monday.
