OKLAHOMA CITY - Fair and square, two atheists won a drawing to use 18 small beach front enclosures in Santa Monica that have traditionally been used by churches to recreate the nativity story at Christmas.
The atheists are only using three--to denounce Christianity--and 15 are sitting empty.
I say that's being petty and unreasonable.
Here's what you had to say John in Norman first: "Well, how open minded and thoughtful was it for the Christian community to deny access to any belief that supported freedom 'from' religion for so many years?"
Pat in Stillwater writes: "..when did your right to be an atheist trump my right to worship as I please?"
Janet in Choctaw: "..it amazes me how some who aren't Christians are offended when a Christian shares what they believe."
But Quinn says: "Atheists have kept quiet for far too long. (Christians) should consider how their nativity scenes have made passing Atheists feel."
Shelley in Choctaw: "I disagree that the atheists are acting ‘childish' and ‘close-minded.'
The reason they are only using so few of their lots is to protest the use of public, government owned lands for religious purposes."
Finally, from MKaiser: "This is sad in so many ways and it sounds like to me these certain atheists have a vendetta against all Christians.."
