Two Teens Killed In Shawnee Wreck

Two Shawnee High School students have died following a traffic accident Thursday on Airport Drive.

The Shawnee News-Star reports 15-year-old Nicholas Glen Birchett and 16-year-old Taylor Edward Ricks were critically injured around 1:40 p.m. Police said the teens were in a 2003 Toyota Corolla that struck a 2005 Dodge minivan. Initial police reports show Ricks was driving the Toyota at the time of the accident.

Birchett died Thursday. Ricks passed away Friday.

A 73-year-old woman in the minivan was taken to a hospital for treatment.
