The Red Cross is used to helping people in need. On Friday, they helped another non-profit organization in need.
Every year, the Red Cross stuffs stockings with toys and hygiene products and gives them out to needy kids. After giving out 5,000 this year, they realized they had about 100 leftover.
A Red Cross volunteer, who also volunteers at the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner, thought it would be a great idea to give them out there.
"We saw recent media reports they had a need here. So we thought this would be such a wonderful idea to have one non-profit helping another non-profit in the best way possible," said Rusty Surette, spokesperson for the Red Cross.
The Red Andrews Christmas Dinner will start at 9 a.m. Christmas Day at the Cox Convention Center. Volunteers will serve dinner until everyone is fed.
