A one-vehicle crash in Payne County claimed the life of a Cushing man early Saturday morning.
This happened at 3:38 a.m. on State Highway 33, about four miles east of Cushing.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol accident report, a Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Justin Bass was west bound on Highway 33 when it ran off the roadway to the left and struck a tree. The truck then traveled about 30 feet before coming to a rest.
Bass was pronounced dead at the scene with head injuries.
Troopers said Bass was not wearing a seatbelt, and they did smell an odor of alcohol on him. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
