The city of Norman is closely monitoring a move by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that could put new restrictions on its drinking water. The EPA will soon rule on whether to tighten standards on chromium six.
Norman's drinking water was recently listed in a study as having the highest levels of that chemical, which is a known carcinogen.
The city says its water is safe and any action by the EPA could be costly. A decision is expected next year.
