OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City Barons went to overtime for the fourth straight game, but an early goal from Rochester lifted the Americans to a 4-3 decision in the first of two games between the clubs.
Rochester trailed 3-2 halfway through the closing period, but center Paul Szczechura scored an unassisted goal, his third of the year, to tie the game 3-3 with 10 minutes left on the clock to force overtime.
The Americans scored the go-ahead goal in the fourth minute of overtime, thanks to Drew Schestel with an assist from Phil Varrone to come away with the win.
Yann Dannis (13-5) comes away with a loss for the Barons Tuesday, giving up four goals on his 23 save attempts, while Drew MacIntyre (11-9) is credited with a win, stopping 27 OKC shot attempts.
The two teams will square off yet again at 7 p.m. Wednesday night, before Oklahoma City moves on to a New Year's Eve matchup with San Antonio.
