Man Charged In Road Rage Incident In Edmond

The Oklahoma County District Attorney has formally charged a 26-year-old man accused of pointing a gun at another driver in Edmond.

Zachary Shawn Martin was charged Thursday, December 29. The victim told police he pulled out of the parking lot of Jersey Mikes on Broadway on Wednesday, December 14. He said Martin followed in his red Chevy Blazer and pulled up right to his bumper at a stop light.

The victim said he pulled into the parking lot of a Wendy's fast food restaurant, and Martin followed him. The victim got out of his vehicle and approached Martin's car. He said that's when Martin allegedly cocked a gun and yelled, "you cut me off in traffic and by that, you threatened my life."

The victim ran back to his car and told his girlfriend to call police. Martin drove off, but the victim was able to give officers his license plate number.

Police pulled over Martin's vehicle and found a P90 Ruger pistol in his Blazer. When they questioned him, Martin said he was on his way home when the victim suddenly pulled out in front of him and almost caused him to crash. Martin said he was scared, but he decided to follow the other driver so he could tell him he almost caused an accident.

Martin said when the victim came up to his vehicle, he saw the gun. Martin said he thought the victim was becoming violent, so he became scared and drove away.

Police arrested Martin. He's charged with one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
