Valley Brook Man Charged With Abusing Wife In Front Of Children

A Valley Brook man is behind bars after police say he choked his wife to the point of unconsciousness. This as she held their two-year old son.

John Barry Russell II, 26, is charged with one count each of maiming, domestic abuse by strangulation, domestic abuse causing great bodily injury and interference with an emergency telephone call.

According to a court affidavit, Russell's wife, Natalie Russell, told police she was holding her son when Russell pushed her down, grabbed her by the throat and picked her up off the ground until she blacked out.

Then, court papers state her seven-year-old son attempted to call 911, but Russell stopped him. According to a doctor who treated Mrs. Russell, she suffered eight fractured teeth, multiple fractures in her face, a chunk of flesh was missing from her tongue and a bruised tail bone.
