The Animal Welfare in Cushing received a donation of a hot water tank from a local plumbing company Thursday afternoon.

According to officials at the shelter, the 40-gallon hot water tank donated by the C&S Plumbing Company will be used to replace the shelter's 30-gallon tank.

"This is something we were preparing to purchase during the last half of our fiscal year," said Animal Welfare Officer Stephen Orton. "This is a tremendous blessing for our animal shelter in that it replaces one that was aged, and increased our hot water capacity an additional 10 gallons."

The animal shelter is located at 530 W. Cherry Street, and is maintained and operated by the Cushing Police Department.
