A metro father accused of shooting and killing his own son is out of jail on Monday.
D.E. Abbott, 72, was arrested January 18 after going into the Flying J Truck Stop at Interstate 35 and N.E. 122nd Street and saying there'd been a shooting. An employee called 911.
Police found the victim, Abbott's son, 39-year-old Perry Abbott, dead inside their home in the 11000 block of N. Air Depot.
According to court documents, Abbott was released without having to pay bail on Friday. He was being held on a murder complaint, but prosecutors have not filed charges.
Documents show, Abbott told someone at the truck stop, "...his son had been holding him captive in his house since December and he just shot his son and escaped."
The search warrants reveal, "items such as ropes, electrical cord, tape, chains and belts that have the appearance of having been used for the purpose of holding someone against their will."
Police also found blood, bloody clothing, guns and casings inside a motor-home.
Abbott says he will live with his ex-wife in southeastern Oklahoma or in a nursing home. He's scheduled to be in court on Friday.
