All lanes of Interstate 40 in Midwest City reopened Monday morning following a deadly crash.

Just after 11 p.m. Sunday, 30-year-old Hale Edward O'Connor was driving his Cadillac westbound on I-40 when he struck the center barrier near S.E. 29th Street. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said O'Connor's car slid on top of the concrete barrier then crashed into the eastbound lanes of the interstate.

Troopers said it appeared O'Connor may have been speeding.

O'Conner was trapped inside his car for two hours while emergency crews tried to rescue him. He died at the scene from his injuries. O'Connor lived in Del City.

All lanes of I-40 near S.E. 29th Street were closed for about three hours while troopers investigated the accident and crews cleared away the wreckage.
